Go Green with Biodegradable Lubricants in Port Miami & Port Everglades

Today the EPA places more pressure on companies to become more environmentally aware. Marine and industrial companies are forced to utilize readily biodegradable lubricants to avoid fines which cripple profits in an increasingly challenging market in Port Miami and Port Everglades. Tropic Oil Company has partnered with ExxonMobil and BioBlend who manufactures synthetic polyol ester and canola based hydraulic, gear and compressor lubricants. These lubricants are part of a shifting movement towards environmentally aware products. For more than 60 years, Tropic Oil Company takes pride in being the leader in providing fuel and lubricants supply to the South Florida market – primarily Port Miami and Port Everglades.

To be the best, you must be able to adapt with change. Americans in all walks of life are now making a conscious effort to protect the environment. Tropic Oil Company strives to become the leading provider of biodegradable hydraulic oils, gear oils, and compressors to the Miami market.

The sVGP is an EPA mandate that aims to reduce the environmental impact from non-military, non-recreational vessels less than 79 feet in length. It requires the use of Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EALs), except when technically infeasible in all equipment and machinery where a discharge of oil to water is likely to occur. An EAL is defined by the EPA as a lubricant that is: BIODEGRADABLE, MINIALLY-TOXIC, AND NON-BIOACCUMULATIVE.

To stay ahead of the competition, Tropic Oil Company offers the best variety of biodegradable engine oils in Miami from the top manufacturers to meet and exceed strict government standards of environmental protection. Best of all, these lubricants help clients save on maintenance costs. Here’s an interesting fact. Just one liter of oil can pollute a million liters of water. These lubricants are manufactured from vegetable oils, including canola, as well as synthetic polyol esters.

Each base provides its own unique advantages – POE oils are intended for colder temperatures which require lower pour points than traditional mineral based or canola based biodegradable lubricants. Generally biodegradable oils will last longer than the intended application as seals or motors fail before lubricant life. Industrial and marine applications rely heavily on biodegradable products due to the water exposure.
